I run Peachtree 2002 on Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server with Citrix installed. My question is, have any of you had problems with the permissions during installation? Peachtree 2002 requires that you be an administrator to install the program, but then if you wish to run the program after install you must also be in the admin group. Fortunately, I operate a small network, 20 people, so I was able to dole out permissions individually but what a pain in the neck. If you get users without proper permissions I get the status.dat error message.

Why would Peachtree do such a thing? It is the only program I have come accross that is like that. Peachtree is the one program that causes constant problems for me. Any idea of where to get good support for the tough administrative questions?

Thanks,
PPIE

I don't have experience on working with Terminal Server. But in theory, your users don't necessarily be adminstrators, just granting them full access rights to the shared Peachtree folder will do. I won't affect other user rights.

Of course, setting all users with "full" rights is dangerous for the important Peachtree data, the fact is that this is a requirement. There may be ways to individually fine tune the rights for each individual files, however the administrative cost is too high and extremely difficult to maintain. And, you know Peachtree is an accounting software for SME!
