Help! I'm using PT Premium 2005 and am confused as to why every report defaults to the month (10/2005) which is when I tranfered the data from PCA. I change the accounting period and the report default date remains Oct. 2005. I recently messed up and sent a client a report for Oct instead of Dec. Is there any way to make the default date (month) on reports follow the accounting period or the current date?

The system date is correct (todays date).

It sounds to me like you current period is still set to October. You can change the period either by clicking on Tasks - Period - Change Accouting Period, or by clicking on the period at the bottom of your screen if you have the toolbar turned on.

If you system date falls within the current period, your transactions will default to the system date. If not, your transactions will default to the first day of the current period.

gigi926,
I wonder if you are using customized reports or the canned ones. I have the same question about customized reports. I have many that were made in 2004. I have to input dates to get it up to date every time I run the report. The ones that are not customized seem to update to follow the date like SMC said.

I am using custom reports. The accounting period has been changed and the system date is current but it sounds like perhaps this does not matter when using custom reports. I hope this is NOT true.

I just did a test on one of the example companies to test this "custom report" theory. It worked just fine. I just don't get it!

When you make a custom report it will a save the date or period information with the report.

To fix this, open the report in question, click on Options, select "This Period" in the Time Frame window, click on OK to open the report, then click on Save and save the report.

The next time you open the report it will use the current period as the time frame.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Perfect! I feel like such a fool for not catching it myself.
