We currently run Peachtree Complete accounting on our network. A error message talking about lock table full keeps coming up on several workstations. Currently for some reason our people here go in a delete certain files they call "lock tables". This seems to fix it on a temp. basis and theywill repeat this every 2 days or so.
HELP!

Several things you can check:
1. Make sure all Win98 stations are running Win98 Second Edition.
2. Update network drivers to the most up-to-date version.
3. Check if your configurations are correct as below for the CONFIG.NT ( WinNT Server ) and CONFIG.SYS ( Win98 ), remember to reboot:
[Windows NT Server]
EDIT C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG.NT
CONFIG.NT
--------------
dos=high, umb
device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys
files=250
[Windows 98]
CONFIG.SYS
---------------
files=150

As you know Peachtree is using btrieve 6.15 for file management, another try is to go to the registry. Go to [Start]-[Run] and type "regedit" then press ENTER. Search for "btrieve" and check for the settings of Btrieve Workstation Engine Microkernel Settings. Adjust the figures and try.
Another easy way is to download the registry update for Peachtree 7 from Peachtree's site and apply it to your stations. It works fine for other versions of Peachtree.
Hope this helps.

I see in this thread that one of the proposed solutions is to update the network drivers. I just want to confirm that this means to update the driver for the particular network card that we are using and it has nothing to do with Windows specific software updates.
Thanks in advance.

If you mean point 2, it should be the network card driver on the workstation you're using. This is hardware related, e.g. 3COM, you've to go to 3COM's site to check for most up-to-date driver.
Also, make sure your Windows NT server has the latest service pack applied as well.
Hope these help.

Thanks for the clarification. I am dealing with integrated network cards on dell machines so I am going to check out their site for info as to what manufacturer they used or if they have the newest driver available. Thanks again for the response.
Graynorm,
Just a quick thought... Do a google search on that error in the Peachtree NG (alt.comp.software.financial.peachtree). You will find a more info/suggetions on that matter.

Jackie,
How does your post translate to a machine with Windows Me on it?

I have also changed a hub to a switch (thanks to an article on David Ringstrom's site) and it corrected a locktable full error one of my customers was having.
