I am wondering if Peachtree makes a software program where I can have separate books for separate customers. If not, where would I find such an animal?

I am starting my own bookkeeping service and need to find the right software. Thanks to all who might answer!

You can have separate peachtree files for each of your bookkeeping customers.

You can also have different versions of the software on your computer.

You might want to consider QuickBooks as well. You will find that your potential clients may already be using QB or PT and want to outsource the bookkeeping, or they may only want to outsource part of the bookkeeping, so it may be more of a client driven thing as to which software you use.

one more thing - you'll want to use the Peachtree Premium Accountants version which will allow you to work with files in the various Peachtree flavors: Complete, Prem for Mfr, etc...

could you go out-on-a-limb and give a quick synopsis of Peachtree Complete 2006 vs. Quickbooks Professional 2006 ?
What about technical support ?
Who does a better job ?

Sure, I'll go out on a limb. I've attached a document that I wrote up awhile ago about some of the differences between QB and Peach. Note that it's Peachtree Complete and QB Pro - Differences will vary when you start comparing Peach Premium, QB Premier in its various flavors and QB Enterprise about which I don't know much.

This was also written before the 2006 versions which frankly I have not spent much time with, so there may be some differences there as well.

In general, QB is more end-user friendly, but there are times when you need to do some funky accounting things that QB won't let you do, but is easier to accomplish in Peach.

I also liken the difference a bit to a religious difference. You get used to what you're raised with, and QB users often hate Peach and vice versa because it's what they're used to.

I really can't address tech support because I RARELY use it. I get most of my answers from the likes of the Wolf and Rick Prindivill right here. And on the QB side, there is a great forum at Quickbooksusers.com (run by the same folks as this one) with some awesome gurus.

I'd be interested in hearing other folks' perceptions on the differences between the two programs.
