How do you direct a report group to another printer from the one that you would normally use?

Peachtree does not prompt you to direct the output to a printer.
It looks like you would need to change your default printer prior to selecting to print your group reports.

When you have selected the report group you want to print, click on Print. When the print screen opens, choose the printer you want to use (the screen will show you all printers installed for your computer), and then click on Print.
One can select a printer on an ad hoc basis without changing the default printer.
This assumes you are running Peachtree under Windows. I don't know the options for other operating systems.

Lorin,
Im using Peachtree 2004/2005/2006 complete. The list of printers does not popup when you hit the print button for the Report group in any of those program versions.
It looks like you are stuck using the default printer. I did like the option of creating pdf files as an e-mail attachment although the test I sent has not arrived yet <g>.

I aslo do not get the pop-up box when choosing the print button when printing report groups (I probably would not have asked the question if I did).
It would also be nice if it asked "how many copies".
I have many company's and each have period end report groups. It would be nice to print to a fast (and inexpensive) printer and have these collated for the thousands of people (actually 6) which get them (or some of them).
As an alternative I will have to get 5 of these people fired. In which case my life would be easier (at least in regards to this issue). Besides, some of them bother me anyway.

Seriously, I would think it would be the perfect place to have the print dialog pop-up.

I agree with you.
As an alternative, install a PDF driver such as CutePDF and change your default printer to the PDF driver. Then print the reports to a pdf file. Then you can print the pdf manually and get your 6 copies off of a high speed printer. Heck you could e-mail them the pdf file and let THEM print their own copy (if they even want to).

I don't have a newer version of PT to try this on (Mine gives the printer selection window) but I have noticed in some programs that when you print by using the "Print" under the File Menu, instead of clicking on the "Print" button, it gives you the selections.

My current version is Peachtree Complete Accounting 2005. Whether I click on File and then click on Print, or whether I click on the print icon of the particular taskbar associated with the report I have on the screen, I get the usual Window print options displayed, which give me the options, among other things, of selecting the printer I want to use and of selecting the number of copies I want to print.
I've never had a Windows version that didn't allow the display of those print options. As far as I can remember, I have never selected any Peachtree options to allow the display of the print options. I assumed anyone using Peachtree under Windows would have access to the same print options.

Lorin,
I get the pop-up options, except when I am printing "group reports". Have you tried this?

I can second what Harry posted. This only happens when selecting the Report Group. I have tested this in Complete 2004, 2005 & 2006. Makes no difference if I use the File>>print or just select print. No popup window to select the printer. It just uses the windows default printer.

Harry,
Sorry, I also missed the "group reports". I can't come up with any way to do it short of making a completely new batch of reports to put in the group.

Harry,
My apologies too for not going all the back back to the beginning of this thread. I, too, missed the Group Report modifier.
I just tried printing a group report that I just quickly defined and not only did I not get a choice of printers, I did not even get a choice of dates.
The check register and General Ledger printed from January 1 to January 31, 2006; the General Journal printed for May 31, 2005; the Chart of Accounts for August 31, 2006; the Trial Balance for April 30, 2006; the Balance Sheet for December 31, 2006; the General Ledger Account Summary Report for January 1, through April 30, 2006.

Try this:
Go to the reports group. Click on the title of the report group you want to print. Click again. The second click should populate the list of the reports in the group. Click on a particular report; click on design. The first option will give the date range for the report; the second option will give the normal design window in which you can associate a particular printer with the report and the number of copies of that particular report.
This could be a pain in the butt if one has to go through this each time one wants to print a report group. It may be easier to simply print each of the reports individually, which gives the choice of printer and the number of copies.

Thatis a good clue, except I have a feeling this will change the settings for the underlying report (which is a part of the report group).
As far as the date goes, if all the underlying reports are already set-up for current period then you are set to go as this is the date it will choose. This is good for month end reports, so I can print them out consistently and the order I want.
