Hello,

I've been having frequent problems with missing GL accounts. We're running a mall LAN with two Win 95 workstations and a NT4.0 workstation that acts as a data server. Over the period of past several months we've lost accouns randomly. Last night we lost ALL of them!!!
I know that the WIN95 workstation locked up with an I/O error and the girl powered the machine off. The server stayed on at all time though.

Any ideas?

Peach V. 7 (7.0.03.098)

Thanks

Peter

P.S. Of course I had a current backup - doing it every night .... :-)

Do you have uninteruptible power supplies on every computer? Not just surge suppressors-UPS's! I have numerous clients who look to save the $100 - $150 per machine that I suggest, only to have errors like yours pop up. Any brownout, spike or minute power loss can affect the Peachtree files, even when you do not know that one has occured.

Getting good UPS's and making sure that they are good (like batteries they lose power) is essential. Power fluxes can wreak havoc on files that are moved back and forth in the program and especially on the network. I have seen UPS's solve a myriad of unexplained problems.

As you said-- luckily you have backups.
