Once accounts receivable are entered and I go to reports in the cash receipts journal then to preview or print report I get an error message "peach.exe has generate errors and will close windows. You will need to restart your program." To use the program again I need to shut down and restart my machine otherwise I get the message that some is already using the program. This happened after installing peachtree 8.0 on our server and changing to windows 2000. Help!

ED WHAT TYPE OF PRINTER ARE YOU PRINTING TO. ALOT OF THE TIMES WHEN YOU SWITCH VERSIONS OF WINDOWS PEACHTREE NEEDS A MORE GENERIC DRIVER. LET ME KNOW AND I WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER SUGGESTION.

I have been having this exact problem with my Peachtree 8.0 and Windows XP. Sometimes when I want go to preview the cash receipts journal, I get lucky and the preview appears on the screen but then most of the time I crash out of Peachtree when trying this preview.

I have a HP Laserjet 1200 set as my default printer and it is set with the HP Laserjet 1200 Series PCL driver. I did attempt to change the driver for the printer to Generic Text Only but still received the same type of crashing when trying to preview the journal.

Another cause for this can be insufficient RAM. 64MB is not enough. I suggest 128MB.

Unfortunately, I am still having the same problem even with using the HP Laserjet III driver. I don't believe that I should be having problem with memory. I am running on a system with 1.9GHz Pentium 4 with 256MB RAM and 37.2 GB hard drive with 31.7 GB free space.

Any other suggestions?

I don't see mention of this in this thread so the problem may be that you do not have the LATEST driver for the operating system Check out the printer's website for updates to the drivers and see if that helps. Drivers are updated all the time after OS's are released due to problems discovered later, so even though you have a driver fro the printer, it may not be the latest bug-free driver.

We have had the same problem with a HP 2100 and called Peachtree support. After talking with support it seems to be a common problem. They said to use Laserjet II drivers. Just try different drivers. I have to use different drivers depending upon which program I'm running. So much for windows driver independance!
