Forgive me if you all knew this already, but I am super proud of myself!

My old computer died and took Excel along with it. I no longer have the codes to reactivate it.

I really wanted a way to use OpenOffice instead of Excel with PT. I have a few different reports that I run to Excel to do further manipulations.

I found that I can export the data and open it with OO. It is one extra step, but they are reports I only need to do every few weeks, so it's no big deal. I saved the data filter so it's easy to run them each time.

I SO bad did not want to have to shell out the money to buy Excel.

Are you exporting raw data or a report?

Selective raw data. I made a list of exactly what information I needed, and filtered the export accordingly.

They were reports that sent to Excel before because I need to do more sorting and manipulation than PT can offer.

I saved the export template so it's easy to do on a regular basis.

It's very easy. Please step as follows.
1, Open your Peachtree report.
2, On tool bar, select copy from edit field.
3, Go to Open Office Spreadsheet or Works or Lotus 123.
4, On tool bar, select paste from edit field.

That's it. Very easy.

Keep in mind that there are limitations to this approach. If your report contains more data than can be stored on the Windows clipboard, the report will be truncated when pasted to the spreadsheet. A way around this is set up a Generic/Text Only Print to File choice, and print the report to a text file that you then open with the spreadsheet of your choice.

It's funny how things go full circle...these approaches were the best available back in the days of Peachtree 6.0 and prior, before the Excel button was introduced in version 7. As for me, I'm sticking with the Excel button. I have no interest in travelling back in time.
