It appears peachtree has made a big improvement with the payroll part of 2002.

To do payroll you must register the tax table. The registration is only good until 12/31/2001. What happens then ?

Peachtree provides a Tax Update Service to assure you have the most updated tax tables. The taxtables are good through 12-31-01. Usually, the IRS makes changes to the taxtable effective Jan. 1 of each year. If you maintain your membership with the Tax service, you will receive new taxtables for the new year. Watch for information for ordering the new tax service in October. It is discounted for those that re-new or join early.

Thanks for the information.

Are you saying that payroll will not work after 12-31-01
unless one subscribes to the tax service?

No, just that the taxtables will not be current. Payroll will still work, but you will receive error messages about taxtables not found and the taxes will not be calculated for the pay checks.

Pardon me for jumping in. Please clarify, can't the end user type in the tables like we use to in PT DOS or Classic. Do you mean to say that PT2002 users are forced into buying the Payroll Service?

It seems to me that if the payroll taxes are not calculated after 12/31/01 Payroll is in effect shut down.

Peachtree provides the Payroll Tax Service so you can be assured you have the correct taxtables and programming for forms such as 941, W2.

You are not forced into buying the tax service.

You can enter the taxtables and set up the calculations yourself, but the liability is yours.
