Laura,
Thanks for the tip! We can't use this, but I would love to recommend it to others who can.
Could you give a brief comment on what you would miss most if you had to drop from Premium to Standard?
Thanks!

Based on the product comparison at Peachtree.com you would lose the following features available in Premium:
Integration with UPS, Prior period locking, Auto Creation of Purchases Orders from Stocking Levels, Fixed Assets, Seven Books of Depreciation, Crystal Reports 9.0 for Peachtree, Company Consolidation Wizard – Financials, Archive Company Data, Departmentalized Financial Statements and a few other features.
If you decided to downgrade to Standard I believe that you will have to create a new company file. There is no way converting between versions of Peachtree.

Thanks, Laura! I wasn't so concerned about the official list, but what you thought would be major shortcomings to live without.
We don't have any interest in downgrading from Premium, but I was interested in whether or not I should recommend the standard version to others. "Free" can be too expensive if it doesn't do what the customer needs.

I'm afraid I can't help you there. I trained on Standard a few years ago but have always used Complete at work. I've never used Premium to be able to say if there is anything major missing. I think it all depends on the complexity of the company. Simple companies probably can get by using Standard.
I never really found much difference between Standard and Complete for basic companies. I would think if the company is complicated (multiple locations/divisions) it might be worth having Premium because of the consolidation feature.
I used Crystal reporting at my old corporate job. I do miss having that program for data reporting but I can't justify the cost of purchasing that program at this job. This could be a useful product for some folks.
I think there are other things like increased number of pricing levels and other features listed above that you only get in premium. Again, it all depends on the nature of the company.

Thanks again, Laura. That's exactly the feedback I was looking for!
