Since I'm still having problems getting Peachtree to work on my comp, I've been using a co-workers to at least get some printouts. I've received a cd from a client with their records for the year, and I'm not sure what version of Peachtree they use, but I'm having problems getting it to open up. I'm using Peachtree Complete 2002 Ver. 9. I've copied the info to his hardrive and changed all of the .dat files to archive and replaced the version file with my programs. The file opens, but when I try looking at a report, it says for exp....

Cannot find Phase.dat file
or
Cannot find Cost.dat file

Not a direct message there.

When I click okay though, the information does come up and I can print out the forms, but I have to click okay about 5000 times to get all of the information.

Is there something I'm not doing so that I don't have to sit and
click for half an hour before I can get just one report out even.

Thanks in advance,

Jamie

Jamie i am not sure what you exactly mean by change the version file. i am thinking you are talking about the version.txt file. if you manually changed that it is a no no. ptree uses that to figure out what version the data was last used with so........ as far as the phase.dat and cost.dat, how did you get their data to... did you say disk or cd?? if it is a cd and you did the backup directly through ptree i would attrib the read only at a dos level. what did their version.txt file say, i will be able to tell you what version they were using.

The information came from a cd, and I just copied the files over into my peachtree folder. I'm not sure if this constitutes manual or not, but I copied the version.txt file, you were correct in your assumption, from a file already in the peachtree and replaced the problem file's version.txt file with it.

Their version.txt file says 11.01

I hope this gives you some helpful information.

Thanks for your help,

Jamie

Since you brought the files from a CD they have the Attrib set to read only. Right-click on the mentioned files, go to properties and take the read-only check mark off.
