We have been using Peachtree Complete for over five years now. We upgraded from 2004 to 2006 approximately 30 days ago and everything was fine. Yesterday, Peachtree started slowing down in many different ways. Sometimes the typing is delayed as you're entering data. Sometimes there's a long delay after you hit the enter key entering data. There are delays at times, dropping down menus, opening companies, or just scrolling down a report. None of these delays seem to be consistent.,
We have our data files installed on one computer and use a peer-to-peer network with several workstations.
I first noticed the delays on my computer, so I rebooted, and still had the problem. I went to a second computer, and it was having the same problems. I then went to the computer with the data files and it was having the same problems. On the computer with the data files I tried to go back to an earlier restore point, but could not.
We ran Norton Antivirus, Ad aware and Spy Bot Search and Destroy with no change in Peachtree behavior.
None of our other programs are having any problems whatsoever. Have any of you ever had this problem before?

Based on the tests that you have already run, the next logical test is within Peachtree is to open one of the sample companies to determine if the problems persists there. You need to isolate the problem by using the Rule Out Method. If it happens in the sample company then it is not your data; if id does not happen in the sample company, then it is not your hardwar, Windows or Peachtree. More tests are in order.

Thanks for your quick reply Rick. I had not thought of using the sample companies. I did try both of them and had the same behavior that I am having with my companies. We manage condominium associations, and there are 34 of them. We have each one of them set up as a separate company and are having a problem every company we have opened.
I did not mention this in the original post, but we did reinstall Peachtree with no improvement.

Have you tried moving one of the company files to your workstation to eliminate your network as the cause of your problem?

Gary: When you say that you re-installed Peachtree, I assume that you did not run the Windows Add/Remove Programs but you did run the Peachtree Repair program from the CD. If this is true, then you may want to actually uninstall the program using the Windows Add/Remove program and then re-install from the Peachtree CD. Perform this task on the HOST computer only and then determine if the problem has been resolved. All of your workstations use Peachtree's shared program folders on the host computer, so by performing the above test on the host computer, you will eliminate all networking elements and will help to isolate the problem to the host. You have basically removed your data files as being the source and now you have removed the network by stating that the problem exists on the host computer. Now it is time to remove Peachtree and do a true re-install.
Note: Protect your data before performing the uninstall. The uninstall procedure will not remove your data, however, better to be safe than sorry.

Sounds like a network traffic problem or the workstation hosting the data has some issues.

Rick, you were correct. We just did a repair. I had appointments outside the office until about 2 p.m. today and was all set to back everything up and reinstall Peachtree. I also was going to take Laura's suggestion and move one company over to one of the workstations and see how it worked. I was in for a big surprise. One of my employees said everything was working fine on her computer. I went into my computer and found that everything was working fine on it. Things were fine on every computer we checked. Maybe Peachtree just wanted a weekend off.
Thank you all so much for your help and suggestions!!! If it happens again, we are ready to take action. It has really boosted my spirits today to discover once again that there are wonderful and helpful Peachtree users on this forum!!!!!!!
