View Full Version : newb...need help with importing online bank statement

Hello to everyone and thank you for checking on this problem!
I haven't worked with Peachtree but trying to do my best. I need to do bank reconciliation. I have downloaded bank statement in Excel but it appeared that Peachtree Complete 2006 doesnt recognize this file for importing data manually (or am I wrong here?) and I can't do auto import because the name of the bank is not on the list. So I installed Quickbooks but I didn't set up anything there. I just used the sample company and downloaded the bank statement there, and I could see it in "recieved files". After that I just did the back up from the top "File" option and saved it on my desktop as "sample company". Now I don't know what to do, because if I go to Peachtree to import data and do it manually I can't find a link to browse.
Please Help !!!!!
I definitely did something wrong, or just missing out on something...
What are my options? I hoped that I could transfer info from Excel file into Peachtree, but it is not that easy as it seemed to be at the 1st glance.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

If your bank does not support Peachtree downloads then you will have to enter your transactions into peachtree and do your bank rec manually. I'm not sure if downloading it into QB will buy you anything either. Downloading to excel and reformating the data to be imported into Peachtree would duplicate your existing transactions as Peachtree does not provide a way to import into the bank rec area.

So I just have to go through manual entry of all my transactions into my Account register then, right? and then it automatically pops that info into the accts recs window. Did I get it right? but doesn't it look like I will simply duplicate all the info and at the end it is doomed to be the same unless I have a hard sheet of the actual bank statement that I'll have to match it with?

You really should be using the various Tasks (invoices, payments, receipts) to enter the transactions instead of using the register.

Any transaction posted to your bank account will show up in the bank rec screen (when you select that account).

You will need to have a hard copy of your bank account in order to complete the bank rec. This can be a mailed copy or a copy printed from the bank's website.
