The company I was recently hired by just upgraded from version 6.0 to 7.0. They upgraded per the advice of an outside consultant, because some of the old data was not purging properly and kept showing up in the reports (mostly old A/R stuff).
After the upgrade, we have had nothing but problems. My supervisor's (SV) computer has the company's files stored. I use a network computer. Now, when I get into Peachtree and open the company, I get a bos that says "that is not a valid Peachtree Company, please try again" The thing is, I was able to get in last night, and now I can't. We verified that I am accessing the company through the correct path, but still no luck
My SV is able to open the company, but can not post. She gets a message that "another work station is posting." She and I are the only ones with access to Peachtree, and I can't get in. So no one could possibly be posting.
Help, please

Several things you may try:

1) For the "can't post" problem, try reboot the machines. This occurs when your Peachtree hangs and lock some of the files. If your Peachtree frequently hangs, check your hardware. The hardware requirement of Peachtree 6 and 7 are different.

2) Apply the Peachtree patches, the most up-to-date is 7.0.03. Also apply the registry update for Peachtree 7. These can ensure a more stable environment. And remember, all your stations should run the same version of Peachtree, otherwise those lower versions may report "that is not a valid Peachtree Company."

3) If you can't access the Peachtree data on another machine, this can happen if you don't have sufficient "user rights" to access the data there. This is another area you need to take care on Windows NT, 2000 or XP.

Hope these help.
