Drop Shipments

Can someone tell me if one checks the drop ship check box on the invoice screen if the product still comes out of inventory? I ask because I read that this box is for having our vendor ship right to the customer and I have noticed that someone is checking that box when we ship to our customers customer. I need to make sure that the inventory is being updated correctly.

Yes, it will still pull it out of inventory.

Much of what we ship is drop shipped as well. Each item is set up in inventory twice, one with a drop ship number, and once with a regular SKU # (item in our warehouse).

When do PO's for the drop ship items to the vendor which ships directly to the custsomer.

We run reports which provides a doublecheck that PO's have been generated for Sales Orders which have dropships. A simple formula of PO Qty - SO Qty should equal 0. If something else, something is wrong, either no PO(s) issued, or wrong item(s) ordered.

Thanks for the reply Cigargerald. I started thinking it wouldn't come out of inventory unless you issued a PO. I did a test invoice this am to test the effect on inventory and all looks good.
