Hi folks, was wondering if anyone could shed any light on an import error a client of mine is getting. We've set up an invoice template for importing a CSV file.
The import fails with the message:
"An error occurred importing from file XXXXX.
This happened on Line 1
Field Name: Sales Tax Code".
I'm importing a single record at this time to simplify the scenario for troubleshooting. The sales tax account # is verified to be correct & of type "Other Current Liabilities".
Does anyone have any ideas?
Much Appreciated,
Christian
The error is on Sales Tax Code, not sales tax account number. The tax code is what determines the sales tax rate that Peachtree applies to the invoice. I can think of 3 possible scenarios that could cause this error when importing.
1. Peachtree cannot match the contents of the sales tax code field in your import file to a sales tax code set up in that company. Check to make sure that what you are importing as sales tax code is set up in Maintain - Sales Taxes - Sales Tax Codes. If it is, then make sure that the fields in your import file are in the same order as the import format you are using in Peachtree.
2. There could be something in your data file (most likely quotation marks) that is preventing Peachtree from correctly parsing your data. If your data contains quotation marks, Peachtree will not be able to correctly determine which pieces of information belong in each field.
3. I think that Sales Tax Code is a required field. If it is, you will get an error on that field whether you have selected it in your import format or not. So if you do not have Sales Tax Code in your import file, you will need to add it, and add it to the import format in Peachtree making sure all fields are in that same order in both places.
