Form 1096 for 1099-MISC

Where is Form 1096, used to summarize and transmit the 1099-MISC forms? It is my understanding that it is required and I don't see it listed in my software (Complete 2002 ver 9).

Try your local IRS office or call IRS to order the form. IRS requires the form to be printed with special colored ink for OCR purposes and, accordingly, the form is not printable on most personal computers.

Thank you for your response. However, I need to clarify my situation. What I am looking for is the "software" to total the appropriate 1099's and format the 1096 for printing. In the same way that the Form W-3 (under Payroll/Federal Form 940) is used with the W-2's.
