Hello to you all and thank you in advance for looking into what my crisis is about. I'll get straight to it, recently my hard drive crashed along with my poor peachtree '04 data! I know this may seem foolish but I don't even know what type of data file to tell the recovery company to recover. All I know is that a backup file has a .ptb extension but I never did one of those. Do any of you know the regular database file types and extensions I would need to tell the recovery company to recover to restore my database? All input is appreciated...thanks ;)

All of your (Peachtree) Company data files have a file extension of .DAT plus one additional file labeled VERSION.TXT. All of the file related to your company are located in one folder. The number of *.dat files varies with the version and flavor of Peachtree. A typical number of *.dat files could be from approx. 40 to 60 plus 1 - VERSION.TXT file.

Thanks a lot for your support, that helps me out a great deal.:) I had one other follow up question to that though. Once I do get all of the .dat files and the version.txt file, how do I reintegrate the data? Is it as simple as throwing all those files into a folder and then going through the import wizard? Or is there more to it? Much appreciated...:D

I would tell them to copy the entire company folder if they can. That will insure that any forms are saved too.
On your new PC, create a skeleton company file. Then close PT and copy the saved one into the newly created folder replacing the files there. This is basically the same as opening up a ptb file with winzip and manually extracting all of the files.
