I am having a problem printing the 2006 941 report (pg 1 and 2) in PT complete 2005; SR-2. I have redownloaded and reinstalled tax update 20060401, which mentions the 2006 941 reports, but to no avail. The computer just freezes solid and only a turn the power off, turn the power back on reset "fixes" it. Everything else in PT is ok, but I really need to get this report.
data verifies OK
Suggestions?

There is also an update labeled 20060402. I don't know if installing that one will fix your problem or not. To download this update, go to c:\Program files\Common Files\Peachtree\updates and rename Tax2006APR_Release2004to2005.exe to something else. Then go into PT and manually check for updates. It should recognize that the tax update file does not exist and download the current version for you. It will install after you close PT. If it does not automatically install then go that folder (above) and double click on the tax update file to install.

I downloaded and installed the 20060402 tax update, and the computer still locked solid when I chose the 941 2006 page 1 report.
Then, I ran data verification - all ok
I ran "data checker for peachtree" - all ok
then I reinstalled the PT software ( it "repaired" the installation?") and also attempted to reinstall the PT update (SR 2?)
when installing the service release, I got error 36. I don't know what that is.
anyway, when I go to the report and select it for preview, it still locks solid, only to be rectified by pulling the plug (ctrl-alt-del does NOT work)
Any new ideas would be appreciated.

When you go to Help>>About Peachtree, what tax version is listed there?

I get an error message using 2004 when I try to print the 2006 941 that indicates a printer incompatibility problem. I wonder if the freezing your are experiencing is being caused by this problem. Try uninstalling your printer and installing a different one like a HP laser III to see if that corrects things.

I have two printers installed at my workstation, an inkjet(local) and an HP laserjet 5L (network). I am not sure how to install a printer that does not exist.
But, the lockup occurs long before (i think) the printer comes into play, because I am selecting "preview" so that I would be able to tweak the options. I also tried selecting "design" but, as expected, another hard lockup.

How many employees do you have? How long have you let it sit during this apparent lock up?

We have about 25-30 employees going thru payroll. As far as time; I decided to try it again before answering your question. I asked it to give me the "preview", and then left for lunch. It immediately locked up, and was still locked an hour later when I got back. by the way, somewhere during these reboots, I was prompted to download and install tax update 20060601-which I did.

If you are on a network have you tried at the computer the data is stored on? Sounds like you need someone to troubleshoot this. Contact the support on this site or a local certified consultant.

I last ran into this kind of problem using a different program.
The report tried to display a resolution/color/font that was not defined or supported by the video card on the machine, thus it locked up into a loop and required a hard power off.
