P Complete 2002 Installation

We are trying to get PC2002 installed on a Novel Netware v3.2 system. Installation will not allow data files to install anywhere but drive c:. When you get to the part about which drive for data, we get the message:

“Warning: You are attempting to setup Peachtree on a drive that does not support long file names. Select OK to choose another drive. For more information about the long file name setup requirements, refer to your Peachtree Getting Started Guide.”

As with most manuals, it was no help at all. My computer guy came to help me, & he couldn’t get it to work either. Our network data drive doesn’t have a problem with long files names for MSOffice. I’ve found nothing on Peachtree’s website that addresses this situation directly.

Can any one help with this?

I solved the problem by installing peachtree to the local computer (c:\peachw). After installation was complete, I created my company and imported all my data. After doing this, I looked in the c:\peachw directory, found the directory that was named similar to the company name I had created and copied this to the server. This worked out great. I then installed peachtree to the remaining clients, and browsed to find the new company, now located on the server.

We also had to edit the 'pcw90.ini' file and modify the DATAPATH to read DATAPATH=N:\peachw which is our data drive.

That modification is addressed in the "During the installation of a Peachtree Update, I received Error 36 or Error 15" in the Peachtree.com Knowledge Base section.

Those errors weren't given to me during install, but we are up and rolling now.
