I have Peachtree Complete Accounting version 8 on 2 Win NT workstations and one PC running Win 2000k Pro. The data is stored on a shared drive on a Win NT server. When I try to print invoices from the reports menu, I get the message "You are attempting to access an area that another user is also using, or you are attempting to perform a process that requires single-user access. Please try again when no other users are attempting the same operation or accessing Peachtree Accounting." This happens even though the only other person accessing the company is in Purchase Orders, not invoices. As soon as they exit the purchase order screen, I can print invoices.
The help file says that this error may come up when I try to do any of the following while someone else is logged in:
Backing up or restoring company data (from Peachtree's File menu)
Changing accounting periods
Changing posting method in Maintain Company Information
Changing a record ID
Working in Maintain Users
Working in Maintain Item Prices
Closing the payroll (calendar) year or fiscal year
Posting (From Tasks menu, System, Post only)
Unposting (From Tasks menu, System, Unpost only)
Purging data
Opening a company (while another user is doing one of these single-user processes)
But I'm just printing invoices, which doesn't appear to do any of those things. We are using the batch posting method, so I am not posting anything by printing. This also happens whether I specifiy printed or unprinted invoices. What record changes is Peachtree making if I am printing already-printed invoices? Shouldn't it be none?
Is there any way around this, or have I set something up wrong? It would be quite troublesome to have to make sure no one else was using the system everytime I want to print invoices (which is several times a day).
