I read in this forum a query from someone who has experienced the single user error - "You are attempting to access an area that another user is also using, or you are attempting to perform a process that requires single-user access. Please try again when no other users are attempting the same operation or accessing Peachtree Accounting."
We have only two users and are networked on Windows NT 4.0 and I get this message even when the other user's computer is shut down.
Does anyone have any ideas or solutions.
Thanks,

Usually, you only have to turn off your computer and turn on again!

From Peachtee's feedback, they've a method to regenerate a keycode that can solve the problem. If you want to try, please tell me.

Answer ID 411 (Error "The record you are trying to access is currently in use, please try again when it is available.") in Peachtree's Knowledge Center on their web site discusses this error, but does not give any procedures to try. (Registration for an account on their web site is required to access the Knowledge Center.)

However, Answer ID 398 (How do I correct the error "Lock Table Full. Please Unlock Something and Try Again" ?) has an item, "6. Other items to check:", that gives four bullet points of procedures to try. The third item actually helped me resolve my issue, even though I'm running PCAW on a Windows NT server rather than a Novell server:

If on a network and you still have a problem, disconnect the drive, stop sharing the drive, reshare the drive and remap the drive.

This worked great, though I found out that one of the client PCs (both ran Win98) had to be rebooted before it could connect again. It was probably the one causing the lock condition.

Note that rebooting all three machines would have also fixed the problem, though it would have disrupted others on the network that rely on the Windows NT server for other services.

Hope that helps!
