I am fairly new to the Peachtree program. I have been using it for about a year and thought I was backing up. I have now found that none of the disks have anything readable on them. When I try to open any saved backup file, even files saved to the hard drive, I get a message that Adobe can't open it because it is not a supported file. What am I doing wrong? Is there some setting that needs to be changed? I can't back up and it really worries me that I haven't really been backing up for a year now. What can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :confused:

You can't 'open' a Peachtree backup file with any program. You need to do a restore from within Peachtree. To do this select File>>Restore and navigate to the ptb file you wish to restore. Then follow the prompts to restore the data. It will override the current company file so you might do a backup and then immediately restore that file as a practise run.

Thank you! I am writing for my mom who is actually the one using the program. She is not very computer literate, but she tries. I don't know enough about the program to even help her out. I really appreciate your reply.

Please do not be put off by the title, but a copy of "Peachtree for Dummies. . . ." would be a great gift for your mother. I have found it very useful.
