entering a deposit

I am trying to enter my deposits, and there are no invoices (I run a child care center, and do not "bill" my customers). I have tried entering them, but they show up as both a deposit and a credit in the general ledger.

On the sales receipt screen, you have a choice of posting to "invoices" or "revenue". Because you are not posting against invoices, you need to post against revenue. This should solve the problem.
