Here's my problem I have a client in AZ who wants me to start doing payroll for one employee for his company and then I have a few clients looking into doing payroll in the near future in different states. I just can't see buying the tax services for over $200.00 and would that even cover the mulitiple states? It has been so long since I have adjusted the tax table manually but to me this looks like the only option that I have. I guess I'm just talking out loud on this to find the best solution. Any advice or help would be appreiated.

My suggestion is to purchase the 2007 tax tables.
And here is why.

for $249 you get the 2007, 2006 ,and 2005 tax tables
They product will be delivered in December 2006--But you should be able to down load the 2006 tax tables after purchase.

For $249, you get Tax tables for Federal, and ALL States. Yes all states.
This will allow you to see the formulas for the All Taxes and you can then create your own tax tables for 2008 and beyond. But you will have a template to work off of.

Also, The AZ tax table formula is much different then the other States and creating AZ formula without a template will be difficult.

Now, REgarding your currant tables. These would not be effected by the tax table because they are stored in a diffent file. You would still be using these as well.

That sounds great but I tell ya the price on those tax table sure does hit you in the wallet!!! Especially when there is an option to do it manually it and save the $250.00. (know what I mean) I know there is all the advantages but boy I wish they would lower the price or offer a payment plan:) Okay I'll get off my soap box now.

Think of it as investment in your company.

Looking into purchasing the Payroll Tax Services I noticed that it states "Your subscription includes all the latest federal law changes plus coverage of two states of your choice." It was posted that this service gives you all of the state's tax tables. Is that not true? Do you only receive tax tables for two states for the $249.00? Thank you for your responses.

Initially, you receive tax tables for all 50 states plus territories as well as federal taxes. The reference to the two states be listed with your annual purchase, (additional states are $10.00 each), deals with any tax changes that may or may not occur during the course of the one year service (December 1 to November 30). Any such updates are provide via Peachtree's Service - Check for Updates - downloads.

If you think $250 is too much to spend then you're not charging enough for your services.

Thanks for your input Lisa:) I did purchase the tax service just doing a little bit of whining knowing that I will have to turn around and purchase the 2007 Tax Updates in three months for another $250 for two states of my choice. You are able to add more states for $10.00 each I found out. I'm not sure I understand why you don't get a full year of benefit as I'm sure most companies don't start on Jan 1. Why don't they prorate that I wonder instead of charging the full amount. And by the way if I was not concerned about the amount of money going out for such services I would not be in business long now would I? But then again I could be cheap labor:) Anyone need a good virtual payroll assistant now that I have sunk the bucks for the tax tables?:)

you should not have purchased the 2006 tax tables
I mentioned in my post you should purchase the 2007 tax tables.
This would have allowed you to Download the currant 2006 tax tables and and then DL the 2007 tax tables in December

The tax tables carry 3 years of formulas

I would call peachtree back and ask for a credit towards the 2007 tax tables.

Gale I just can't believe this!! I bought the 2007 tax service night before last and waited to to get the download info but did not receive anything so this morning I called them and told them I had bought it and the salesman told me that I had bought the wrong thing that the 2007 would not be available until the December. I told him that I had already paid for it and he wanted to sell me the 2006 and 2007 for $400 but told me I could not buy the 2007 online and do my payroll this week with it as those would not be available. They did a credit for the 2007 and then I had to purchase the 2006. So what is the truth on this I wonder. I know I'm really confused at this point and would love to have the 2007 with three years back and have a working payroll this week but!!!
