i've used quantum for serveral months, no problems. i back up every day. 6 users.

today when i tried to back up i received the message "you are attempting to perform an operation that requires single user access" etc. i cant use data verify either, same message.

i restarted the server computer, shut the other computers down; same message

i use a dell xeon, raid 1 scsi's

any ideas?

Reboot again all computers ---or look for process w32mkde.exe or something like that and end process on all computers.

i rebooted a second time & now it works.....hmmmmmm

ok, W32MKDE.exe was Btrieve *used in the 2006 and prior versions.
2007 using Pervasive.. you would see pervasive running as an engine or a service in windows, but either way you can see pervasive running in the task manager under processes as W3DBSMGR.exe.
So if you wanted to make sure no other computer was accessing the database on the server, make sure you turn off the pervasive engine and also that W3DBSMGR.exe is not running under processes.

Working the second time, i'm thinking it could have also been the lock files and other temp files on the server's datapath.
You can search for all *.PTL & *.LCK files in the datapath and delete them, a lot of times these files do not get deleted by the program and you would have to delete them manually and reset pervasive.
