I have 3 pcs on a simple network - with peachtree complete 2005 installed separately on each pc. We use peachtree for several companies, and the data for some is on PC #1 and the data for others on PC #3. The individual PCs can open the companies whose data files are stored on that PC, but cannot open company data files where the data is stored on one of the other PCs. So PC #1 can only open companies whose data is stored on PC# 1, PC # 2 cant open any data files at all and PC#3 can only open companies whsoe data is stored on PC#3. However, when searching, we can see the directory on the other pc in which the data file is stored, but no company name comes up allowing us to open the files.
any ideas on how to fix this?

First question is from a network standpoint, do all 3 machines have access to all 3 machines? You'll need to map drive letters rather than just accessing \\computer\sharename
Then in Peachtree, when you're opening another company, if you get the "recently opened companies" window, click the browse button, or you already see the list of folders, change the drive there to look in the other locations.
Hope this helps.

Many thanks - yes each of the 3 can see each other and access other files such as excel, word etc across the network in each direction.
I reset the drive mappings and made some progress in that pc#1 and 2 can see - and open - peachtree files on pc #3, but pc # 2 & 3 can see but not open the files on pc #1. ie when selecting company files on pc#1 from PC#3, i can see the directory structure and the list of data files, but no company names come up allowing the company to be selected and opened
However, if i move the data files on pc# 1 to a new directory on pc # 1 then they can be seen, and opened from the other 2 computers suddenly
so this seems to work now, although i dont know why it didnt before since the drive mapping seemed ok . anyway, this seems to work now.

There are folders that cannot typically be shared such "Program Files" and "Documents & Settings". It is possible that the Peachtree data files resided in one of these areas and by relocating them to a more accessible area of the shared drive, now provides access by the peer workstations.
