I have a bunch of sales orders that have no items left to ship against them but they still show up as a drop down option on the sales invoice screen. Is there any way to close out these sales orders so they aren't available as an option for specific customers in the sales invoice screen.

Would deleting the sales orders get rid of any sales invoices against them.

Thanks

Open up the sales order and mark the close SO check box.

Ok, heres a question about sales orders that are already closed and invoice....I'm worried that too many sales orders would slow down the system and, after a while, make things confusing for the sales dep. and accounting department.

Is there an easy way to purge the old sales orders from the system?
Would this be a bad thing do delete old sales orders?
Should I keep these sales orders in the system for a good accounting trail?
Should I file these in paper form (or pdf on the drive)?

Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks guys.

If your Sales Orders have been associated with a Sales Invoice, you can not delete them. Open Sales Orders that are not associated with any Sales Invoice, then you can click on the Close SO or you can delete them. SO are not a form a major overhead and unless they are significant in number, you are not likely to see any performance improvement.
