Just installed 2007, peer to peer, Windows XP pro network. Everything works great, except the change accounting period. When I try to change periods, I get an error message that it requires single user access. I've check and rechecked all computers and verified that they are not in peachtree. Anyone have any ideas?

Reboot all Peachtree related workstations. This will clear the file locks that allow the message that you are receiving.

I am a new person to this forum....I am a president of a Houston Texas company with one peachtree user on staff who can not extend a Peachtree period beyond 3 years....long term trends and graphing would be nice beyond 3 years.....also I need to hire another peachtree person in Houston...any recomendations how to find a skilled peachtree person? I am at Bruce@axciton.com if interested.......Bruce WHite

Rebooted the server, which cleared the file locks. Is this going to be an ongoing issue? Or, is there something that needs to be changed in network settings that will prevent this from occuring.

Unexpected File locks can be caused by a Windows setting referred to as "Write Caching" and we recommend to our clients to disable this local hard drive feature as well as Server hard drives, if applicable.

Users that do not exit Peachtree in a proper manner i.e lockup allowing a hard boot, can cause file locks on the Server not to be released.

Windows XP and Windows XP SP1 allowed conditions that prevented file locks being released in a timely manner. Current and highly recommended is Windows XP SP2. Similarly, the Server OS should be Windows 2000 Server SP3 or higher or Windows 2003 Server SP1.

User privilges on the Server being less than recommended. Peachtree requires user to have FULL PERMISSIONS to the Peachtree program / data folders.

Incorrect DATAPATH statements in the Peachtree INI file can lend to the failure to release file locks.

The above are a few, but are the most common sources that allow the problems that you are experiencing.
