We started to use Peachtree complete Accounting 2002 in our offices in Indonesia and soon realized that we ran out of spaces in the amount fields. We do everything in the local currency Rupiah which uses and extra 3 zero's. Is there a currency module for PT to solve this problem? Can the fileds be expanded? What is the solution?

Start a new company and use as the currency base of your company 1000 Rupiah instead of 1 Rupiah. That is, move the decimal over three places.

Where is the option for me to enter the 1000 Rupiah currency base?

No option. Just think of your currency in units of 1000 Rupiahs (or KRupiahs). So if you have an entry that is 1,950,000 Rupiahs, enter 1,950.

I thought about looking at it in the K (1000s) but I don;t think this is a elegant solution. Too much potential for mixing up the number and forgetting about the 1000 rule. Isn't there any other solution? I need to enter billions! Thanks for the support.

From the menu bar in Peachtree you can select Options:Global and from there set the number of decimal places for data entry to be anywhere between 0 and 5. If that does not work for you, then there is nothing else you can do within Peachtree itself.
Another option is to use an add-on like PawCom and develop your own data entry form that works the way you want. PawCom already has an sales/invoice entry screen similar to Peachtree's that you could use as a starting point. However, this approach would envolve some programming on your part.

Yes, I know about the 0-5 decimal option. The problem here is for every decimal you ad it takes away from the whole numbers and even if you take away all the decimal you are still limited to 9 digits. Plus the global option only affects the sales order fileds and the like, but I am more interested in the balances in my chart of accounts, no matter what I set the global decimanl setting to the amount field in the chart of account is always .00. Talk to me more about PawCom. I don't have a problem with programming, I can handle that.
Let me know!

You can download a demonstration kit for PawCom by going to http://www.multiwareinc.com/pawcom.htm and clicking on the download demo button.
The demo is fully functional except that it only works with the Bellwether Garden Supply sample company from Peachtree. You should be able to determine with the demo wether PawCom can be used to solve your currency problem.
You can order PawCom by clicking on the link at the bottom of the PeachtreeUsers home page.
