I am new to Peachtree and am using Premium for Manufacturing. In a manufacturing environment (and retail I suppose) the Item ID is the Part Number and the Part Number the Item ID. If there is a unique Item ID for every Part Number, what is the value of assigning Part Numbers.

I understand that "Items" may not be "Parts" but their Item Class will identify this.

Thanks,

Steve

Typically, the Item number is your internal part number while the Part Number is your supplier's part number. So when issuing a Purchase Order, you can enter parts to order using your part number and when printing you will have the option of printing your PO using the suppliers part number versus your internal Item / Part number.

Thanks,

Now I understand...That should help for Purchased Parts.

Can this P/N area also be used as a place holder for customer P/Ns?
