Transferring Payroll subscription from 2004 to 2006

We are in the process of upgrading from PT Complete 2004 to 2006. We purchase the annual payroll subscription.

How do we transfer our subscription/license from our 2004 copy to the newly purchased 2006 once I get it installed?

The registration is buried in the Windows Registry, as such, following the installation of Peachtree 2006, the program should automatically notify you that your record has been updated to use the current tax file.

Failing that, open your company, click on HELP and TAX REGISTRATION. There you will find an 800# to call for registration purposes.

I remember the problem which prompted my message. I have PT complete 2004/05/06 installed on my machine. The payroll tax subscription is related to the client with 2004. I can use that tax service code for 2004 and 2006. 2005 refuses to accept that tax code for some reason. This happens on both of my machines.

Any idea as to why it fails on 2005 but not 2004 or 2006?

If the registered serial number for the Peachtree 2005 version and you have purchased the tax service, then you should be able to call Peachtree and provide this information to allow a new registration number that is tied to the 2005 Serial Number.
