Closed fiscal year 2000 and now I can see no detail on the general ledger, is there a fix?

Wish I could help, I had same problem today. The machine locked up in the final stages of the closing fiscal year option, just before the purge. After I did a hard reboot, the account balances are there but the detail is gone.
Thought I had a good back up (found out later I did not), so I tried to re run the close, the system updated the periods that can be posted to again, so my current year is no longer availiable and the detail of course is still gone I guess, although I can't look into the back periods to find out.
If anybody can help please do.

I had a client that had the same problem. I called PT support and they said that I/my client was out of luck. When it's closed there's no way around it. They suggested that I look for a backup, which fortunately, my client had. I restored that to a shell file and was able to access their info.
Good luck.

When performing such hazardous tasks such as closing, purging, repairing, or reindexing - always make at least TWO backups of your data. One should be on a hard drive or other media other that the data's hard drive. I've been performing these tasks for over ten years for clients, and I personally do nothing without THREE separate backups. I've had chance to use all three on one occasion also, so I'm glad I'm paranoid.
Also, no one speaks enough of power protection. Everyone understands the problem of power spikes, but not of brownouts. You know, that moment in the office when the lights appear to dim. Data and hardware is more susceptable to brownouts than most people realize. A surge protector is NOT enough. Invest $100.00 in a good Uninterruptible Powers Supply (UPS) for every computer, server, and network hub on the system. This will even out the flow of electricity to your computer and avoid the spikes and valleys. Also, if the lights go out, you will have plenty of time to save work and power down the system, without the loss of anything. I have solved more occasional lost data, corrupted data, and illegal operations with this simple investment.
