View Full Version : 2006 version Software year end wizard failed

Year end wizard failed and now can not access current companies or CAN NOT restore old back up file. Appears that some .dat files are missing such as Permiss.dat ect. Please advise.

Update info: prompted to start year end wizard, clicked yes, did backup and it started printing reports then it just stoped everything and said could not complete, year end wizard failed. Went back to try to get in company and it is lost.

Are you able to restore the file using the backup made when you first started the Year end wizard?

I would also run a data verification to see if that detects any problems.

Unable to use backup file created during first part of the wizard. We actually created a backup copy after first cancelling the wizard and then exited peachtree acctg app and then restarted and then completed the year end wizard during which created a backup copy.

We have three companys and the year end wizard failling caused the issue of not being able to open the company with this message: Cannot open file permiss.dat. Clicked 'Ok' and the Destination company for the restore operation could not be opened. I copied another company's 'permiss.dat to this company folder and then got:

Could not find file Report.dat. So you want to create a brand new, empty file? If cancelled, it goes no futher. If you click 'No' it repeats same as above but with other dat file names such as: Vendor.dat, Project.dat, taxauth.dat,taxtable.dat.reportdata.dat, ect.

Attempting a work around. I created a new company and then restored the latest backup successfully. I then copied the files and folders from the new company folder into the original company folder that had the missing dat files. We can now access the data in the original company and verified the data was correct, ran Trialbalance and appears correct as well. Please advise if this workaround is advisable.

Now we have ran the data verification on the restored and copied over data and it had zero errors.

I say go for it too. don't forget to make another backup file.
