Warning!!

Have had quite a time with Sage trying to initiate E-File Advantage - "Can you hold a minute?" followed by New Age music, person never to return, is typical.

A support person let slip that E-File isn't ready yet, though I paid for it last October. Another said that after Dec 1st, Sage is only giving back $50 if we cancel the service, never mind that it never worked.

Since they haven't delivered anything at all, I disputed the $199 charge on my credit card, and really that's the last I want to hear from Sage.

Very unpleasant experience - I know 'stuff' when I hear it. Have used Peachtree 10 years at least.

Anyone else buy this service?

This may not the Sage's fault. Given the extremely late passage of legislation affecting taxation for 2006, Sage may find it in the same predicament as IRS is in: Some of the IRS forms and publications that have been printed are now obsolete.

IRS is having to reprogram its computers to be able to handle the very latest changes for 2006.

I am sorry to hear about your experience.

We have many customers who are very happy with the e-File Advantage service. e-File Advantage is an add-on to the 2008 Peachtree Payroll Tax Update Service which started on December 1st.

If you would like to contact me, I will put you in touch with someone who can help.

You may actually mean 2008 judging from Sage's response over 12 calls.

E-File is greyed out at form print time and any inquirey concerning E-File has been met with indefinite telephone hold. An old trick, and an offensive thing to do.

Sage had delivered nothing re: E-File Advantage and declines to provide support, information, anything at all.

Perhaps you'd like to solve the problem?

I'd understand if that were the case. Sage is stonewalling, which likely means something different.

If your eFile button is grayed out, it could be for a couple of reasons.

1. Make sure you have entered your new tax registration code. It will start with a letter instead of a number. If your tax registration number does not start with a letter you have the wrong one. Once you enter it you may need to quit out of the program and reopen the program.

2. Make sure your computer date and time is set after December 1, 2006

The tax registration currently installed is 2007. Why should I install 2008, or don't the numbers correspond to the year of use?

Date and period are correct.

You probably received a 2007 tax registration code that only enables the tax tables. If you have signed up for eFile Advantage you are suppose to get a new number from Peachtree to enter for your tax registration code. This new number will start with the letter F. If you do not have a tax registration code that starts with a letter you need to call Peachtree and get that code and then once you enter it the eFile button will no longer be grayed out.

Our 2007 tax registration code doesn't start with a letter - evidently, it's wrong for my purpose.

Yet, is was updated this month, and efile was purchased last October.

If the registration code was the only problem, Peachtree could have resolved it in any of the 12 calls we made. What they chose to do was to put us on indefinite hold every time - it appears support didn't know what to do, or could not make E-File Advantage work.

Sage Software's behavior wasn't what anyone would want - we don't appreciate being ignored when we've paid for their product, and when it becomes the only response over many calls, it may be policy.
