I am setting up Quantum right now for my company, and for now, I am going to put the database on just an XP Pro box as a fileshare. Down the road, I anticipate moving to a Server/Client network rather than the shoestring and bubblegum network we have now. At that point, I will have a dedicated server running Win Server 2k3.
My question - Is there any major road blocks from moving the database from a fileshare location to a true Server? What are the risks?
Thanks for any feedback. I appreciate it.

There should not be any problems at all. When you have your new Server, you will install the Peachtree Server Components on this computer. When doing so, you will be asked for the shared data path. Ideally, the path will be the same as the current datapath (different computer, understood). Backup your current data files via Peachtree's backup utility to your local workstation. Disconnect the current drive mapping to the shared host computer. Re-map the same drive letter to the new Server with the same datapath on each workstation. Open Peachtree, select FILE and RESTORE. During the data restore process, you will be prompted if you are replacing an existing Company or creating a NEW Company. Select the latter. Now the next screen will prompt to you to restore Company data and or Custom Forms. You will choose both. Transfer of Company data and shared custom forms will now be complete.

Thanks!
I sort of assumed that is how it would work, but then I remembered what they say about assumed...
Thanks again.

Any advantage or disadvantage of one way or the other(peer to peer or client/server) as far as Peachtree is concerned?
