We are using Peachtree Release 7 in a network environment. I have had problems in installing the tax updates for two consecutive installations. Do I need to install the Peachtree 7.0 upgrade before the tax update? It seemed that I alwasys got stucked at the point when system was trying to add the program icon. So I "end task" the installation of the Release 7.0 upgrade and isntall only the tax update. Somehow, I won't be able to open Peachtree after this. The message says: "Cannot open file' p(network directory):\Peach2\STATUS.DAT'" I reinstalled the Peachtree program and was able to work on Peachtree again.

Did anybody else run into the same problem? How do I overcome this?

Is this for the April tax update. If you are running 7.0 and you did not do the update like the rest of us December or January then you need the update badly.

To run the update what I do is change the paw.ini file to look at files on the local machine.

Get the upgrade to work on the local machine then change the paw.ini file back to access the network.

The upgrade problem is usually related to a network issue.

An upgrade to 2002 might be helpful to you. Despite some of the banter on this and other sites 2002 is a better product than Version 7 ever thought about being.
