I'm having trouble restoring my backed up data. I opened the company, restored it but now it tells me I need an updated version to open that company. I've downloaded all the updates from peachtree.com. and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Can you explain more how you backup and restore your files? And, the version you're using.

Peachtree Accounting version 8.0. I back it up when Peachtree tells me I need to back it up (every 7 days). I think it's a .ptb file...I save that to cd. I reinstalled Peachtree, set up the company again and went to file restore. It seemed to import all my data but wouldn't open the company after that...keeps telling me I need an updated version. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Does your message indicate what verson it wants you to upgrade to?

It doesn't specify...it just says I need an updated version.
Smirl,
I don't know if this has to do with anything at all but you might try it:
As you may know, when you copy a file to a CD, the burner software changes all file's attributes to Read-Only. This may be the cause of your error.
Try copying the file back to the Hard Drive and remove the Read-Only attribute. (Right-Click on the File/Folder and select properties, then un-select Read-Only).
Hope it Works

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it...no luck.
Anyone else? I'm starting to think about calling the support line and coughing up $75 for their assistance...which should be free...at least once or twice...
but I digress...

Problem can happen when you made the backup, it's 8.0.02. Then, when you reinstall Peachtee it might returns to 8.0 only and somehow it can't recognize your updated data as it is in a newer version.
So, upgrade your Peachtree to the highest version, like 8.0.02. As Peachtree's higher version always can recognize lower version ( but not the other way round ), your restored data should be recognized properly.
If it still doesn't work, I'm afraid your backup is incomplete or corrupted.
Hope this help. Please let me know the result.
