We are using Peachtree Complete Accounting 2002 on a stand alone WINNT 4.0 workstation.
After printing our checks we take the "yes" response to "did checks print correctly?" the application starts to post, we then get an error "Handle Table Full". The 7.0 registry update has been applied and the files= line has been changed to 150.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

A Google search revealed the following from http://www.nomad.ee/btrieve/errors/87.htm
Btrieve error 87 (handle table full)
"It may be returned when opening the 16th file in a DOS application running under Windows NT. If BTI.CFG is set correctly (/H:200, /F:200, etc), the resolution may be to modify the Files= line in CONFIG.NT. This file is in the WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory and the default value is 20. Raise the value."
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the speedy response, we have already changed the files=20 to files=150. This did not help. I did a search for BTI.CFG and cannot find this file.
thanks again

Document number 35865 in the Peachtree support database on their web site has some info on Windows NT, but it seems to confirm what you already know. In your case I'd recommend contacting Peachtree Software directly. A strategy that seems to work for me is that if the first person I talk to doesn't have an answer, I get a case number, then call back. I often get someone a bit savvier the second time around. In one case, I had to call back a third time, and in that case, definitely got a tech support guru. I'm not sure if there's a hierarchy to calling back with a case number, or just luck, but it's worth a shot anyway.

Try adding the following line to the Boot section of the System.INI file:
CACHEDFILEHANDLES=10

Thank you jarnold, we changed cached file to 10 and the posting went to 80%.
we changed to 30 for the next payroll run and everything went to 100%. Thanks again.
