Does not sound like you have full access to the drive where the data is located.

Are you opening a backup file? Did you just move to a new server?

Check for the VERSION.TXT file that must reside in the Company data folder. If the file is not found, copy the same file name from one of the sample companies ie. BCS or !_PDG etc.

Open the version.txt and make sure it reads the same as the one in the BCS folder. If it does, then try creating a new txt file in the company folder that has the data, then modify and save that text document, and finally delete it. Creating and modifying a text doc is a good way to see if the security is set correctly. You can also try bringing a copy of the data local and see if you can open it. If you can open it locally on the machine then you will know it is a security or network setting.

Check the workstation that is having problems accessing Peachtree and verify that the logon user has FULL PERMISSIONS or Administrative Rights to both the local computer's hard drive as well as the shared Peachtree data folder on the Server.
