Hello. We are actually a rental house specializing in electrical tranformers, cabling and generators. I am new to PT06 after 8 years of QB. I know the answer to this in QB, but it's bugging the heck out of me that I can not figure my way around this issue in PT. I'll happily beg for an answer because the way the information is currently entered is about to give me a migraine.

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish. My example will be our transformers. I'd like to set up categories and sub-cats within the inventory listing (yes, it's an inventory but we don't keep physical track of what's here at any given moment within PT06).

Transformers: Main Category
StepDown: SubCat1
SinglePhase SubCat2

7.5kva 1phase 480V-120/240V Individual Sizes
15kva 1phase 208V - 120/240V
ThreePhase SubCat2
15kva 3phase 480V - 120/208V Y
750kva 3phase 480V - 120/208V Y
StepUp:SubCat1
ThreePhase
75kva 3phase 240V - 480VY/277V

Isolation:SubCat1

Etc etc etc..

Is there any way possible to set up an item list in this format? It sure would help invoicing to go one heck of a lot faster :)

Thank you!

Tamara

Sorry, you can't do sub items in Peachtree like in QB. Why did you switch?

Thanks for the reply, Lisa. I appreciate it.

Why did I switch? Well, it kinda came with the lay off from the previous job :)

The new company I'm with has utilized PT for almost as long as I used QB. They both certainly have their advantages, but I'm finding that I miss those tiny things (like subcats ;) ) that appear to have given QB a wee bit of extra flexability.

So much for that idea!

Thanks again,

Tamara

Got it! Congrats on the new job!

QB and PT are very, very comparable, but they definitely have their own personalities, don't they. While QB is more flexible on some things, PT is more flexible on others.

Stop back if you need help again!
