We have PTP 2006 and are running it on a PC-to-PC network with 2 computers. It's really, really slow - some days slower than others. And don't even get me started on how slow our Crystal reports are. The system has a Pentium 4 processor and we have plenty of available resources - 64.5 MB Free. We are using XP Home - would that have anything at all to do with it?

Try disabling any Anti-Virus and see what happens.

There could be many reasons why it is slow. I used to use 2006 with the data residing on a file server and the application on each of 5 pc's. My network was fast, the server was fast and the pc's decent, yet it was frequently slow.

First, the basics. You need to be certain that you don't have any programs that are resource and/or memory hogs. Don't disable virus protection unless you disconnect from the internet. Be sure your computers are completely defragmented (daily even). If it is still slow then you might try adding ram. Do you have 512MB ram or a gig of ram? There is a chance that faster computer and more ram could fix it. There is also a chance that your network might be slow or your computers might not be configured to be efficient and free of bloatware and have a million processes running, slowing them down.

I had slowness with good network, windows configs and pc's. I solved it by buying 2007 and putting it on a light terminal server. I run terminal sessions on my pc's and all is very fast and wonderful.

By disabling Anti-Virus, I was referring to just the scanning on the PT folder and Data Files.
