Closing Year - I/O error EVNTCLS.DAT

We were closing the year and received the error I/O error reading EVNTCLS.DAT.

I found this covered in the forum from 2 years ago but the solution was to delete the file, as it's non-essential. Unfortunately, we do not have the file in our data directory so it's not possible to delete.

Are there any other solutions?

The Eventlog.dat file exists in all version of Peachtree. The file EVNTCLS.DAT is a temp file created using the Eventlog.dat file. Since the program cannot read the Eventlog.dat file, it cannot create the temporary file EVNTCLS.DAT

Click on Maintain - Company Information, here you will see a line labeled Directory. This datapath also lists the name of the data folder that contains the Eventlog.dat file. Locate and rename this file. Open Peachtree and you will be prompted to recreate this file. Agree to the prompt to recreate this file and then proceed with your Year End Closing.
