Hi All,

when I try to perform some tasks like posting a payment it gives an error message "you donot have write access to INVCOST.DAT" This also happened when I try to open reports.
I guess because of this error my cost of materials account doesn't get updated when there is a sale item.

Please suggest what might be done to resolve this error.

Upgraded to this latest from PCA 2 months back. There are 2 companys setup out of which one works fine. This error shows up in the 2nd company accounting.

Also In my peach tree help, some of the links doesn't work? The link opens a blank window with no content in it. Are the help files corrupted?

Thanks for your time to respond... in advance.

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to your C:\PEACHW folder, then click inside the folder for the company in question. Right-click on the INVCOST.DAT file and ensure that it's not set to Read-Only. If it's not read-only, then most likely your data files are corrupted. If you're familiar with the Integrity Check in Peachtree, you can try reindexing this file.

Thanks for the response. The file was not Read-only.Also user has full access.

Performed integrity test and it fails due to the same error.

So we tried to rebuild a new company by importing data.
The data wasn't corrupted so we are fine with the rebuilt new company(error free).

For some reasons, the cause of the error seems to be lockingup of the file, not the corrupt data.

Its a great relief, rebuild works fine.
