Change accounting period

I tried to change to accounting period 15 (ie.- April 2002) and
recieved the following error message:
Warning: Period changed to 17 due to unposted journal entries
there. (I verified that I DO NOT have any journal entries in
period 17).

The system is currently on Period 15 (ie.- March 2002) and will
not allow me to go to Period 16 (ie. April 2002).

What do I do???

well first go to maintain company information
change your posting method to batch posting on the left side of the screen
go to tasks system post - all journals - click on okay
go to tasks system change accounting - change to period you would like
now go to maintain company information - and change back to realtime posting

Yikes! I thought it worked. Well now the accounting period is changed ok, but I can see where the hiccup occured.

There is a legitimate General jounal entry that I posted on 2/03/02. If I create a General Ledger report I see this General Journal entry posted on 2/3/02 = OK.

The problem is that I see it posted again 3/01/02 (= not ok)Normally I can double click on an entry on this report and the original form, where it was posted from, will open. When I click on the 3/1/02 entry, nothing happens. It is also not listed when I go into the Tasks, Journal Entries, Edit screen (for March, 2002). It's as if it doesn't really exist. How can I find this item and delete it?

this is because if you go to the original entry in 2/2002 you will see a check mark in the reverse area. which means you can only edit the first part of the entry.
