Is it possible to run a back up today that reflects transactions only up to and including December 31, 2006? If I change the system date to 12/21/06 and then run the back up utility, will that only show 2006 entries?

We need to copy (only) this information to a cd (is special disk formatting required?) and do not want it to include any 2007 business.

Thanks!

Peachtree's database is designed so that all data is included in the JrnlHdr.dat and JrnlRow.dat files. As such you can not selectively backup data for a selected date range. It is all or nothing.

You can export data for a date range but not a backup.

Thanks for the quick response. It does make sense to not be able to go back in time, but our 12/31/06 back up file is actually incomplete since adjustments were made in January so wondered if there was another method.

Can you export data in such a way that related information can be viewed with the 'double click' capability (provided the related data is included in the export) or are exported files always and only stagnant/stand alone?

Thanks!

I just exported several files to my hard drive - they're in Excel spreadsheet format, so not interactive. Not all of the reports we have that we'd like to be able to send are available, nor are any of our customized reports.

I don't know if this would work, but it might be worth a try. Make a "new" (XXX-06) company and restore your most current back-up to that company. Then go into this "new" company and delete all the entries made in 2007. In effect taking your company back to 12/31. Seems logical, but not really understanding all that PT does in the background, it might be a absolute failure! <grin>

That sounds like a good idea to me, too! Thanks
