View Full Version : how do you change ytd employee earnings??

I had a question concerning my payroll register not matching my 941, according to this payroll register there is one employee who received a check in the amount of 318 dollars but this check does not appear in peach Tree( so I can void it) but when I run the 941 report, his gross amount does not appear in the 941 worksheet, but his payroll check and the amount of his gross payroll does appear in the payroll register. Now, at this point in order to rectify the two I could void the payroll check and then the two reports, the payroll register and the 941 would match but like I said, since the payroll check does not appear in void checks, at this point I am not sure what to do. Now the reason that this happened is that Peach Tree had an error in posting payroll which I subsequently have fixed using a registry update provided to me by Peach Tree, so I know this error won’t happen again. But my question is how do I get this 318.00 of gross payroll into the system so we can have everything match. Is there a place you can change year to date earnings for employees? Appreciate any help you might have on this problem.

On the Maintain Employees form, click the Beginning Balances button and the Beginning Balances form will appear.

Add the amount to the Gross line and make the Date within the desired period.

This is how I usually enter beginning balances for clients who do not want to enter their entire payroll when converting to PT. This should work in your case. Beginning balances do not affect General Ledger account balances because they are assumed to be in the beginning Trial Balance already.

Do let me know if this works, but be sure to double-check your G/L balances both before and after to verify.
