We are using 2002 in an assembly operation. Our bill of materials get revised from time to time depending on various conditions. These revisions are always running changes. Our assembly ID is our finished good item number that our customers purchase from us. I can not change the ID number when copying the bill to make a revision. Is there any way to show a revision number or similar designation to revise the bill of materials?

Now that we have been using peach tree since the beginning of the year, we have found three errors in the five hundred bill of materials that we have. How can I correct these?

Also, when an item has become inactive, when can it be deleted from the system? Do I have to wait until the beginning of next year to delete these items?

Thank you for the help.

Once an assembly item ID is saved and used, you cannot make any changed to the BOM. You must create a new assembly ID.

Also, once an item has a transaction in it, you cannot delete the item. Once marked inactive, it will eventually purge itself out of the system after the last year it was used is closed and purge. If any reference to the item was still open in a closed year, the item may not purge until the next year.

Suggestion: if 'inactive' items are in your way, go to Options, Global and select 'Hide inactive items'. That way you don't see them on your lookup list and any reports can be filtered to exclude inactive items.
