Multi-user in PeachtreeComplete 2008 vs 2006

We have recently been contacted by Peachtree and told that they would no longer be supporting 2006 and that we should upgrade to Peachtree Complete 2008. Currently, we have 12 named users in 2006 but never more than 5 accessing the company at any time so the multi-user pack works well for us. I have heard a rumor tho, that 2008 will limit you to 5 named users in total. Can anyone verify this for me? We would like to keep a named user for each employee if we ever have to access the audit log for any reason.

Someone at Sage is jumping the gun in an effort to scare you into upgrading before you need to. Support for 2005 will end next. Sage always supports 3 years at a time so when 2008 is released they will support 2006, 2007 and 2008.

As for the number of users, the way PT handles users was changed in 2007. Peachtree now supports 5 named users while Quantum supports 10 named users.

Are you using payroll or any other special features that you will lose when they stop supporting 2006 NEXT YEAR?

Yes...we are using the payroll features and the operator who called me specifically said that they would not be supporting 2006 for payroll past December. If he outright lied to me just to get me to upgrade, that is poor business practice and I will be filing a complaint with Sage (not that it will do much good). I will have to consider then, upgrading to Quantum for more than the 5 named users, or changing our structure to limit the number of people who need to access Peachtree.

We are using Peachtree Peachtree Premium Accountants Edition.
It will do what you need, you can have more than five users set up,
but only five are allowed to login at any time. Once someone logs off,
the user is freed up automatically and the next one can log on.

No, we are not an accounting firm, but you can still buy the accountant edition.

Ok now I am confused....as I understand it I will be unable to enter a 6th named user in Peachtree Complete Multiuser. Can anyone with 2008 multiuser physically confirm this for me? The admistrative assistant here swears that her accountant told that she will be able to enter more than 5 users in 2008 COmplete and only have any 5 active at one time. I would rather trust someone who actually has the software than someone who has just heard something.

You can enter as many names as you wish, and there is a check box next to each name to assign a license. You will only be able to assign 5 licenses, and only 5 people can be in at the same time. To change this, everyone would have to get out of the program, you then go into maintain users, and deselect the check mark from one name and add it to another.
