I am running Peachtree Premium Accountant's Edition 2006.

We have had some operating errors in the past so I make backups daily.

Today when we received an error I decided to run the integrity check on our company by running peachtree using (...peachw.exe" -i).

Everything seems fine except for the "Data Synchronization test" for "Inventory/Bill Of Materials".
When I run this sync test I get the error:
"File System Error Number: 10 in file: ...\BOMITEMS.DAT"
This error is followed by the message:
"Synchronization Error Corrected"
I receive these 2 messages about 50 times and then the process finishes. Every time I run this sync I get the same errors.

The only information I can find, on this error, in Peachtree help is:
"File system error 10
To resolve the error, complete the following steps:
1. Close all applications that may be running including Peachtree Accounting.
2. Exit Windows, and reboot your computer. "
This does not solve the problem.

(BTW, when I run this on a sample company I do not receive the error. Also, I restored a backup from several months ago and I have the same problem.)

Everything in peachtree seems to be running fine, but I am concerned that I have some type of data corruption that will cause me trouble down the road.

Has anyone else seen this error or know what it really means?

Thanks!
Natalie

From the Peachtree KB:

File System Error 10 when Inventory/BOM Sync test is run in Peachtree 2006

Question
If I copy an Assembly item, Save it, then edit the BOM, then run the Inventory /BOM sync test, I get a File System Error 10 message during the Sync Test.
NOTE: IF you edit the BOM before saving the copied asset initially, then you don't get the FSE 10. It only triggers the error when editing a copied and saved assembly item.

Answer
Make the changes to the BOM before saving the copied assembly item initially.
There is currently no resolution for this issue.

I have this same issue in Peachtree 2008 for manufacturing. I also seem to have an issue with the Assembly Items that this instance occured on (saving before making edits to a copied assembly item) not appearing on some reports such as an inventory profitibility report with Items on Sales Order checked to show on the report.
On the maintain inventory items general tab it shows the correct amount on sales orders and quantity available, but the quantity onm sales orders does not show up on other reports? Does anyone else have this issue?
Thanks!
Stephanie

It is possible that you have a damaged BOM-related file. You can download a free passive data checker tool from this web site and it will tell you if that is that case.
